What methodologies exist for restoration
of blue forests ecosystems?
There are several standards and methodologies for blue forests ecosystems. Many of these methodologies are advanced by those wishing to do carbon accounting at the project or national scale. However there is also guidance on mangrove restoration methodologies that have been recently published. These documents targets communities, civil society, national agencies, and practitioners involved in mangrove conservation activities and provides concrete examples of best practices for mangrove restoration. This guidance was developed with Blue Forests Project Partners in Kenya. Verra has developed a wetlands restoration and conservation guidance for several blue forest ecosystems including wetlands, peatlands, mangroves and is in the process of developing guidance for seagrasses and kelp.
